10 days without coffee.. and counting

☕️🚫

My 21 day no coffee experiment

Coffee, it’s the thing we first reach for, it’s what we rely on to give us the kick, it’s a social thing.

Coffee was becoming a habit for me - Wake up.. coffee, exercise.. coffee, breakfast.. coffee.

I started having 4 or 5 shots of coffee a day.

I started feeling irritated and lashing out at little things. No wonder why I would slump by 4pm.

My focus, productivity and sense of thrill was no longer existant with coffee.

So asking myself within, I wanted to break a habit.

21 days without coffee is what I’m aiming for and I’m currently strong on day 10.

How have I felt over the course so far?

Mood has been stable, mellow, and for some reason I’m not overly excited by things, I’m happy and contempt. Also that sleep statistics have improved (according to my Whoop watch) with more REM and deep sleep.

What were the first few days like?

Brain fog, headaches and drowsiness with days 2 and 3 being the worst.

By day 5, the brain fog had cleared and I felt on. Conscious about morning flow through self-obeserved patterns and behaviours.

My routine was no change, I substituted coffee with celtic sea salt and kombucha, chai latte’s at the cafe.

Another protocol that helped me detoxify was the use of saunas, contrast therapy and ice plunge.

Do I miss coffee?

At times I miss the warm, frothy milk of coffee hitting my lips.

But I have also saved some money and some bags under my eyes which had been developed from sleep disruption.

What’s next?

This is a personal experiment. To break a habit and to have a break from coffee.

It’s incredible what a non-negotiable, self-conscious decision can do for you.

When you pursue a task, objective or a goal. Put your mind to it, and you will make it happen.
