Have you ever reached the monkey bars during a Spartan Race, only to watch others fail and wonder what secret sauce it takes to nail it? In this post, I’m sharing my secret technique to clear one of Spartan’s hardest obstacles — every single time.

Why Monkey Bars Are Tough

Most people think it’s about strength, but it’s really about rhythm, grip, and a little bit of strategy. Fatigue, nerves, and muddy hands make this obstacle a classic filter for even the best athletes.

My Go-To Technique

  1. Keep Your Momentum: Don’t stop! Use your legs to swing and let your moment carry you forward.
  2. Grip Smart: Hold the bar with your fingers (not your palm). This saves your grip and reduces fatigue.
  3. Eyes Forward: Always look toward the end — this keeps your body moving in the right direction.
  4. Breathe: Exhale on the swing, inhale on the grab. It keeps you focused.
